SOLTI Young European Workshop brings together young breast cancer specialists from across Europe
30.06.2026The SOLTI Young European Workshop of the Spanish SOLTI – Cancer Research Group brought together 35 young breast cancer specialists from more than ten countries in Barcelona on 26–27 June 2026 to jointly develop new clinical trial concepts in breast cancer.
The aim of the meeting was to enable structured exchange and hands-on training for the next generation of oncologists.
The workshop addressed a key challenge in modern oncology: while therapeutic innovation continues to advance rapidly, structured training in clinical trial design and implementation often remains limited in everyday clinical practice. The format therefore enabled young investigators to translate clinical questions across different breast cancer subtypes – including luminal, HER2-positive, and triple-negative disease – into research proposals.
In addition to keynote lectures and interactive discussions, the program focused on multidisciplinary small-group work. With guidance from experienced experts, participants identified unmet clinical needs and developed structured trial concepts. The goal was to generate practice-oriented research ideas with potential for future academic, independent clinical studies.
Another key objective was to strengthen European networks between academic breast cancer groups and young researchers. Participants came from ABCSG (Austria), UCC Cancer Trials (Ireland), Swiss Cancer Institute (Switzerland), Unicancer (France), WSG (Germany), ASEICA (Spain), EORTC – Breast Cancer Group, and SOLTI.
