Enrollment target reached for the ABCSG 55N / AMBHER study

10.08.2026

The non-interventional ABCSG 55N / AMBHER study has reached an important milestone: The enrollment target of 500 patients was achieved in July 2026. Following the last patient inclusion on August 3, 2026, the study population comprises a total of 501 patients.

ABCSG 55N / AMBHER is a non-interventional, single-arm, multicenter study with an ambispective design, describing patients with HER2-positive early breast cancer who received neoadjuvant therapy with dual HER2 blockade consisting of pertuzumab and trastuzumab.

The aim of the study is to develop a dynamic risk prediction model to estimate the risk of distant recurrence and to identify patients who may derive the greatest benefit from adjuvant pertuzumab therapy, representing a further step towards personalized treatment strategies. In addition, the study evaluates the cardiac safety of pertuzumab and trastuzumab in combination with standard chemotherapy in the neoadjuvant setting and includes translational biomarker analyses within an established biobank.

The retrospective cohort comprises 276 patients (55%), while 225 patients (45%) are included in the prospective cohort. Across the eight participating Austrian study sites, a valuable data basis has been established to support further scientific analyses.

ABCSG sincerely thanks all participating study sites, investigators, study coordinators and study nurses for their commitment, which made this important milestone possible. Above all, we thank the patients for their participation in this important study.
