Honor for Professor Michael Gnant

At this year’s ABCSG Annual Meeting, Professor Michael Gnant was honored for his 20 years of pioneering work as President of the ABCSG. The tribute took place in the presence of numerous colleagues who emphasized his continuous dedication and his significant contribution to advancing clinical cancer research in Austria.
A special highlight of the evening was a surprise video featuring congratulatory messages from long-standing colleagues. The tribute was complemented by speeches from ABCSG Vice President Professor Christian Singer and Managing Director Hannes Fohler, who symbolically presented Prof. Gnant with a selection of 20-year-old wines.
The metaphor of the carefully tended vineyard, used in Hannes Fohler’s speech, illustrated the continuity and perseverance required to build and successfully lead a research group: tireless, long-term work aiming at producing sustainable and valuable results.
The recognition was very well received and underscored the high esteem in which Prof. Gnant is held within the ABCSG and the global scientific community.
The ABCSG extends its sincere gratitude to Prof. Gnant for two decades of dedicated, visionary leadership and his unwavering committment to continuously improving therapies for the benefit of cancer patients.
