In this editorial, he reflects on the pressures currently facing academic surgery – ranging from limited resources to the challenge of placing greater value on outcomes rather than surgical techniques – and explores development opportunities such as improved funding structures, harmonized documentation standards in interdisciplinary trials, and the potential of real-world data and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

The article also highlights the importance of surgical training that fosters research, critical thinking, and the systematic evaluation of new ideas.<\/p>\n

As an academic study group that also conducts surgical breast cancer trials, ABCSG welcomes such contributions as an encouragement for the continued advancement of surgical science.<\/p>\n
